Valentine’s Day Activities Your Students will Love!

Valentine's day doesn't have to be all about candy and parties, you can also use valentine's day activities for fun and engaging learning.

I love celebrating holidays in the classroom. Not only can you count on extra enthusiasm from the children, but you can also fill your lessons with important skills practice without your students even knowing it! There is something about a holiday or seasonally themed activity that makes teaching key skills and concepts so much more fun. In Kindergarten especially, we can use this little tidbit to our advantage! Today, I have rounded up a few of my favorite activities to use in the classroom for Valentine’s Day! Your students will love these engaging Valentine’s Day activities and you will love the ease and simplicity of facilitating them!

February Math and Literacy Boom Cards

My students LOVE when we utilize technology in the classroom. Bringing digital activities into the classroom always perks my students right up and grabs their attention. One of my favorite digital activities to incorporate in the classroom are Boom Cards. Have you joined the Boom Card party yet? Be sure to check out this post for all the details on how Boom Cards can benefit you and your students.

These Boom Cards are the perfect way to get in some phonics practice during the Valentine's season.

My February Math and Literacy Boom Cards Bundle is the perfect digital addition to your Valentine’s Day lessons. This bundle comes with over 200 digital tasks cards and covers a variety of topics. For literacy topics, students will practice sight words, rhyming, CVC words, and more!

Tackle foundational math skills including addition and subtraction to 10, place value, skip counting, and fact fluency. This is the ultimate bundle of Boom cards for brushing up on kindergarten and 1st grade math and literacy skills for the month of February!

Best of all though, these Boom Cards provide students with immediate feedback which makes these great for independent learning time. Use them in small groups, centers, morning work, homework, and for early finishers! Once you start using Boom Cards in the classroom, you will be hooked! Your students will love the game format of the lessons and you will love how simple these are to utilize in your classroom. Add in the fun holiday theme and you have a recipe for engaged learners!

Valentine’s Day Activities for Google Slides

Keeping in line with the digital theme, be sure to check out my Valentine’s Day Google Slides as well! This is a great resource for extra practice and will add a fun, Valentine’s Day touch to your lessons.

Use these fun and engaging Valentine's Day activities with Google slide for engaging Valentine's day activities your students will love.

This resource comes complete with 8 interactive games perfect for kindergarten and 1st grade. The games cover place value, skip counting, addition to 20, CVC words, pattern blocks, and more.  Google Slides are great because you can pick and choose which activities to use or assign to your students easily. You can use this resource throughout the month as a fun twist on the regular lessons or you can do them all on Valentine’s Day for an extra special party!

My favorite thing about these slides is that audio clips are included. Each activity includes a directions slide with audio so that students can click the speaker to hear the directions read to them. The audio makes this activity perfect for independent centers, homework, small groups, and even the youngest learners! This is a no-prep activity that uses text boxes and movable pieces to create the most hands-on and engaging experience a digital resource can provide.

Give these slides a try in your classroom when you need a quick, engaging activity your students will LOVE!
