Knowing the phonics skill is only the beginning. Knowing the phonics skill is only the beginning.

Students need chances to actually use that skill while they read, and that’s where decodable text can be so helpful.

They can practice the phonics pattern in real text, work with it as they read, and still build comprehension at the same time 👍

They know sh says /sh/… but then get to ship and s They know sh says /sh/… but then get to ship and suddenly they’re stuck 😅

That’s usually a sign they need more practice seeing the digraph in actual words... not just naming the sound.

Lots of spotting it, blending it, and reading it in real text is what helps it start to stick.

Save this for your next digraph lesson!

And if you’re teaching digraphs right now, I have a whole series of posts on the blog with more ideas. Comment below and I'll message you the 🔗
Independent reading over before it even starts? 😅 Independent reading over before it even starts? 😅

At the beginning of the year, I used to spend a lot of time talking about what strong readers actually do. What helps them keep reading, what gets in the way, and what they can try when reading starts to feel hard.

Reading stamina isn’t something we can just assume students know how to do. It has to be taught!

Comment STAMINA and I’ll send you the link to the mini lesson, activities, and everything you need to actually teach reading stamina!

Fact families can be such a tricky concept for kid Fact families can be such a tricky concept for kids.

They might be able to solve the addition fact or the subtraction fact, but still not really understand how the numbers are connected.

That’s why I wanted this resource to have more than just worksheets.

You can use it to teach the relationship first, give students lots of different ways to practice it, and then check to see if it’s actually clicking.

There are options for facts within 10 and within 20, so you can use what makes the most sense for your students.

And since it’s brand new, it’s 50% off for the first 48 hours! 🎉

Comment FACT FAMILIES and I'll message you the link 🫶🏼
